DESCRIPTION:Date and time: October 13 3:30 pm\, 75 minutes\nFacilitators:\n– Kakra Boye-Doe\, MD – Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago & McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University\n– Cecilia Hollenhorst\, MD– Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellow at Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago & McGaw Medical Center at Northwestern University \nLearning Overview and Objectives: \n\nDiscuss what may underly suicidal thoughts and behaviors in school-age children\nUnderstand risk factors for suicide\nAddress how to respond when students have suicidal thoughts\n\nThe content of this course is targeted towards educators in the classroom and schools who play a key role in the life trajectory of children. We will discuss risk factors for suicidal thoughts and behaviors\, including psychiatric diagnoses as well as social and psychological factors. Strategies for addressing suicidal thoughts and behaviors when these arise in a school setting will be included. \nEducators will have the opportunity to ask questions during a Q & A session afterwards.
